Hey, y’all! As usual I’m perpetually FAR behind in blogging (and forevermore) but I thought I’d kill two birds with one stone and share a pair of urban family photo shoots with you all at once.
The first has the distinction of being my very last photo shoot of 2014 and the second has the distinction of being one of the more difficult shoots I’ve ever done. More on that later!
Let’s kick it off with the H family. We had a lot of fun together as you can see and I took them to a couple of locations that I hadn’t shot before in the downtown Waco area.
It was a cool December day but thankfully no wind this time!
The handsome guys definitely had their fair share of hamming it up but despite their best efforts I captured some non-silly photos among all the goofing off. I think mama is glad I did!
Of course I captured plenty of goof-off photos too
In all honesty I don’t consider the background to be super important as long as it’s not distracting but I do like to find nice textures. You can see from this wide shot where some of the textures in the closeups came from:
I always like to get a few of just mom and dad as well
And if you’ve never noticed I’m a big fan of headshots
This next shoot with the M family was from a brisk day in November. In addition to the cold it was cloudy and so windy that I couldn’t use any of my typical modifiers such as soft boxes that I use to soften the light. Despite the conditions they were all for toughing it out and getting the shoot done so we did. I’m always game if you are! It was a real challenge in many ways – not having my usual tools, freezing hands, freezing subjects and a poor lil guy that just had the hardest time not looking cold. This family really felt a connection to Waco, especially downtown, and they wanted the photos to show that. In the end we were happy with the photos.
I hope you enjoyed the photos. If you’re interested in a family photo session in ANY Waco-area setting then shoot me an email through the contact form on this site.
